Sónar & UPC present their Artificial Intelligence and Music Festival

Taking place from October 27th to 28th.

Sónar and the UPC (Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya) have announced, in collaboration with betevé, their Artificial Intelligence and Music Festival, which will take place at Barcelona’s CCCB on the 27th and 28th October 2021.

On Thursday, May 13th, the virtual event ‘Exploring connections between AI and Music’ will bring together a panel of pioneering artists – YACHT, Mouse on Mars, and Ivan Paz – and experts in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning – Michela Milano (Università di Bologna), Jordi Pons (Dolby) y Javier Ruiz (UPC) – to explore the connections between AI and musical creation. The workshop will be the first in a series of activities, talks, debates, and knowledge exchanges organized by the Festival’s ThinkingLab.

According to its press release, ‘In session from now until the dates of the festival, the ThinkingLab is a space for experimentation and debate, bringing together international experts in Artificial Intelligence, (musicians, artists, technologists, cultural historians, scientists, researchers…) with the goal of identifying and developing the most cutting edge approaches to AI as relating to musical creativity.’

An initiative of the S+T+ARTS program of the European Commission, this free live stream will introduce the framework for the S+T+ARTS ‘AI and Music Festival’, and will be its first event.
