Ableton has unveiled a new Stem Separation tool as part of its Live 12.3 update, now available in public beta. The feature allows users of the Live 12 Suite and Push Standalone to isolate vocals, drums, bass, and other elements from any audio clip in both Arrangement and Session View, as well as directly in the Browser.

Powered by Music AI algorithms, the Stem Separation tool expands creative possibilities for sampling. Producers can extract acapellas, isolate percussion, or rework stems using audio to MIDI conversion.

Live 12.3 also introduces Splice Integration, giving access to the Splice library from within Live’s Browser, and the new Search with Sound function, which matches samples to rhythms and harmonies already in a project.

Additional functions include Bounce Groups, enabling users to bounce entire Group tracks or sections to a new audio track, and Paste Bounced Audio, which lets clips or selections be quickly copied and pasted as rendered audio.
