London-based live artist, DJ and Producer ABSOLUTE. returns to his own record label Family Planning, with ‘Dämmerung’ – stunning and uplifting slice of percussive techno. In German, Dämmerung means ‘twilight’, and that signifies the changing from day into night and vice versa. It’s a magical time and the light synth notes pluck away to unpick the old and transition into the new. On the flip, ABSOLUTE.’s fiesta ready ‘Neon Energy’ mix is an uptempo workout for peak-time on the dancefloor.
To mark the release of ABSOLUTE.’s ‘Dämmerung’ on Family Planning, the artist shares his 10 favorite songs for twilight raving.
1. Eris Drew – Sensation
‘Eris has a special way of telling intricate stories with her music, and this one is beaming straight to glowing sunset in paradise.’
2. Saoirse – Gentle Romance
‘Saoirse’s set at Body Movements festival last year cemented her as one of my new favorite DJs, and after hearing this track now one of my fav producers too. I love the textures and emotion here, fast without being too banging, it steps things up a gear as the sun creeps away in the distance.’
3. Locked Groove – Digital World
‘Another track that’s fast but not too heavy, driving emotion and subtle dreamy trance elements slot this in a really nice space as the night closes in.’
4. P.Lopez feat. Vera Brothers – Emulation
‘Another notch up, the sun a distant memory as things start to increase in energy. Simple, driving bass and simple vox stabs make this a track I’ve been reaching for a lot in sets recently.’
5. Dave Clarke – Way of Life
‘Taking things a little heavier with some classic techno from the OG, Dave Clarke, the opener on his 2003 album ‘Devil’s Advocate’, ‘Way of Life’ always makes me move with those sleezy vox, relentless house stabs, driving techno drums and percussion means I’ll be playing this a lot across my coming gigs.’
6. Juliet Fox – Wanna Dance
‘Sleezy, simple, driving acid techno topped with the demanding ’let us dance’ spoken word.’
7. Soda Kids – Uptown Party
‘Slightly left field, with just enough going on to make you move, sparse indie-electro drums combined with a weird haunting electro lead makes this a current off-kilter favorite of mine.’
8. KETTAMA – Saint Laurent
‘Energising drums to lift any set and enough speed to keep you moving, twisted vocal screams and dusty chords help bring a restrained euphoria.’
9. CM – Dream Universe (Marino’s Place Mix)
‘Sweaty trancy euphoric energy transports me to rave in Belgium in the ’90s via Trade in London, one I can’t stop playing.’
10. ABSOLUTE. – Fauna
‘The emotive closer from my ‘Wonderland’ mixtape last year, it felt like fitting end here too.’
