Amonita’s innovative style and creativity have gained her recognition within the electronic music community, consistently ranking her tracks high on the charts and securing prime spots in popular music stores. To solidify her place in the music industry, she co-founded Rubicunda, a music label, with her musical partner, Makebo, in 2021.

She recently released her latest EP, ‘Rainbow’, under the All Day I Dream label. The EP, inspired by her travels and the beauty of nature, encapsulates the essence of her music.

Today, we delve into an in-depth conversation with Amonita about her recent release, future projects, and distinctive musical approach. We will uncover the inspirations behind her work and her perspective on the evolving music scene.

EG: Hi, Amonita! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? What have you been up to?

Amonita: Hello everyone, thank you, I am excited to have this conversation with you guys. Everything is fine with me, I’m preparing to move (I will keep my new place of residence a secret, so as not to attract bad luck). I have been touring a lot recently; Over the past year, I have visited Australia, Brazil, and Ibiza, and from time to time, I have returned to my studio in Turkey to work on new tracks.

EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your new EP, ‘Rainbow’! You must be thrilled. What has the initial reception been like so far? What are some of your initial feelings?

Amonita: Thank you for the congratulations! I have been looking forward to this release for some time, and have already received strong support from many musicians and a lot of kind feedback from fans.

EG: Musically speaking, what can your fans expect to find on ‘Rainbow’?

Amonita: This release is ideal for real dreamers! The title track, ‘Rainbow’, in my opinion, has a palette of seven colors and carries information about peace, life, love, and harmony between everything. It will help you start the day on a positive note and get a boost of energy to complete any task, lift your spirits, give you a smile, and bring you joy.

The track ‘Amulet’ is about freedom and space. It has a special atmosphere that attracts attention, allowing you to forget about all of your troubles and enjoy pleasant deep feelings and mesmerizing thoughts, isolating you from the outside world and transporting you to another universe.

The track ‘Moon Dust’ is as if the sun has set, you are sitting by the seashore, and somewhere in the distance, a mermaid begins to sing, intoxicating you with its song. You see the moon and stars and dissolve in the magic of the night sky.

I hope my fantasies will resonate with you, but you can easily draw your own pictures and see your own meaning – I think listeners will come up with interesting stories while listening to this EP.

EG:  Is there a thread or concept interconnecting these 3 tracks? What was the creative process for ‘Rainbow’ like?

Amonita: There is absolutely no connection between them, they tell different stories. The tracks were made in approximately the same period of time, when I lived in Turkey and visited an amazingly beautiful place called Cappadocia. This trip was extremely inspiring for me, and resulted in me creating the track ‘Amulet’, then ‘Moon Dust’, and finally ‘Rainbow’.

“I often improvise and combine sounds until I feel an emotional response in my heart”

EG: Through your eyes, how does someone channel nature into music? What part of the process lets you know you’re on the right track?

Amonita: In my opinion, travel is a powerful source of inspiration. When a person nourishes themselves with what they visually see in amazing nature and all of its manifestations, those pictures remain in their memory and heart for a long time. I love rain because, after the rain, I will see a rainbow. When creating music, I often improvise and combine sounds until I feel an emotional response in my heart. Once I feel it, then I know I’m on the right track.

EG: What would be the perfect setting to listen to ‘Rainbow’? What would you like listeners to take away from the experience?

Amonita: I think the ‘Rainbow’ EP is versatile and suitable for any environment. If you are sad, then after listening to the tracks you will definitely become more cheerful. If you are having fun, then you will want to dance and share your joy with your friends. I would like people to smile a lot and spend as much time as possible together sharing pleasant moments with music – I hope ‘Rainbow’ EP will assist with this.

EG: Now, let’s step outside of the studio for a bit…What are your thoughts on the current state of the music scene? Are these gigantic LED screens taking too much away from the music?

Amonita: Oh yes, I think that this is quite distracting, and a substitution of value occurs. When I’m at such shows, I often don’t see dancing people who disappear into the music, instead, I usually see people standing with their phones taking videos. The visuals that accompany DJ sets can certainly be beautiful, but I’m for harmony and believe visuals should be in moderation. Music comes first for me, everything else can be acceptable if it is thematic decor and will help you enjoy the music. Imagine if you come to the cinema to watch a new film, and suddenly a DJ and loud music appears. This will certainly distract you from watching the film.

EG: And what’s your take on the use of AI in music? Has any form of AI been used on  ‘Rainbow’?

Amonita: Yes, this is definitely a breakthrough, in the ‘Rainbow’ EP I did not use AI, but I did in other tracks. I still need time to become strong friends with artificial intelligence and perhaps in the future, we will be inseparable friends.

“The goal of our label is to showcase our favorite music without being tied to certain frameworks and rules”

EG: Finally, can you provide some insights into what’s next for Amonita and RUBICUNDA? What can we expect from you in the coming months?

Amonita: Rubicunda is a label that was created by me and Makebo in 2021. The goal of our label is to showcase our favorite music without being tied to certain frameworks and rules. This is a way to look into the future instead of chasing trends, presenting listeners with new, original musicians who are true trendsetters. One of these trendsetters is my good friend and colleague Talemates, and on April 18, a new ‘Rocksta’ EP by this talented musician is being released on Rubicunda.

My new remix of J Bossa and Lov’s  ‘Sway’ will be released on Shanti Radio in early April.  Mid-April, I will return to Dubai for Lendaa, which is actually a Brazilian festival I played last year in Curitiba which is now expanding to the Middle East. And this summer, I have several performances planned across Europe. Hope to see you on a dancefloor soon!

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Amonita! We wish you all the best for the future. See you on the dancefloor!

Amonita: Thank you for the wonderful questions, I was glad to share my answers! See you on the dancefloor – good luck and best wishes to everyone.
