Amsterdam’s A’DAM Tower has officially implemented a no phones on the dancefloor policy across its event spaces: Shelter and The Loft. The measure, originally launched at Shelter in 2022, had been paused during its 2024 renovation but has now been reinstated—and extended for the first time to The Loft.

Known for its panoramic skyline views and popularity on social media, The Loft has often been described as one of Amsterdam’s most filmed venues. In an official statement, A’DAM Tower emphasized a renewed focus on experience over content. “Too often, visitors were focused on creating content instead of being in the present,” said Zep Fransen, Head of Program and General Manager of Shelter. “With this policy, we say: step into the now and truly live the moment. Our dance floor isn’t a backdrop, it’s an experience.”

The decision aligns with a wider trend among clubs and promoters, with venues like Lakota (Bristol), The Warehouse Project (Manchester), and Tomodachi (Ibiza) also adopting no-photography policies in 2025.

The announcement comes just ahead of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), set to run from October 22 to 26. A’DAM Tower will host over 30 events during ADE, including performances by Mau P, Skepta, Vintage Culture, and more.
