A group of Dutch  festival organizers including Loveland, Awakenings, Amsterdam Open Air, DGTL, Into The Woods, Straf_Werk, Dockyard, Pleinvrees, among others recently expressed a significant concern about the future of Amsterdam’s vibrant festival culture. The local government is considering a major change to its events policy that could substantially affect this lively community.

This potential policy change leaves festival organizers in a state of uncertainty, possibly lasting until the end of 2024, raising questions about the feasibility of events in 2025. This uncertainty poses a considerable challenge for festival organizers and inhibits the development of new initiatives.

Without the required permits, festivals could face financial difficulties. Even those events that do secure approval may find it challenging to deliver the high-quality experience their community expects and deserves. Festival organizers are keen to prevent such a scenario.

In response to this looming concern, representatives from the festival industry are mobilizing music and dance enthusiasts to show their support. They’re inviting everyone to sign a petition to safeguard Amsterdam’s festival culture’s future.
