A new compilation celebrating South London’s seminal afterparty Telepathic Fish is set for release on August 25th, 2025, via Fundamental Frequencies.
Titled ‘Telepathic Fish: Trawling The Early 90s Ambient Underground’, the VA captures defining tracks from one of the UK capital’s earliest chill-out gatherings. Contributions come from Aphex Twin (as Caustic Window), The Orb, Nightmares on Wax, Mixmaster Morris (as Irresistible Force), and Global Communication.
Two tracks are now available to stream ahead of the full release: Barbarella’s ‘Barbarella (The Irresistible Force Remix)’ and Spacetime Continuum’s ‘Fluresence’.
Founded in the early 1990s by David Vallade, Mario Aguera, DJ Food, and the late Mira Calix — with support from Mixmaster Morris and Matt Black — Telepathic Fish became a cornerstone of London’s ambient underground. The upcoming release is accompanied by a 20-page zine that chronicles the event’s history, complete with personal photos, artwork, and memorabilia.
