Archermano, a duo composed of Tomás Archer and Francisco Esp. has recently released their second EP entitled ‘Pasteleira’, via their own label, O Sótão Records. The material is a coming-of-age album that pays homage to the duo’s hometown neighborhood of Pasteleira, located in Porto.
Pasteleira is a diverse area in Porto that blends high and low classes. It is also known as the main drug hub in northern Portugal and has a growing population of homeless people struggling with addiction. This EP explores the perspective of two guys in their early 30s as their neighborhood changes and their youth fades away.
The EP consists of five tracks that are heavily influenced by electronic and progressive music. It is named after the neighborhood where the duo grew up and still resides. The record is a reflection of the culture that pervades them, including the expressions they use, the nightclubs they attend, and their neighborhood, just as it is at this point in time, without any judgment.
“This collection of musical ideas and influences was produced right here, upstairs. We dedicate it to where we’re from,” says the duo.
