The successful ‘Nu feat. Jo.Ke – Who Loves The Sun’ will be the first track from the label to have an NFT version.
Bar 25 Music, the German imprint led by Danny Faber, is now looking into the possibilities fueled by the recent boom of tokenized art. Their first foray into the digital realm of NFTs is taking shape in the form of a revamp of one of the label’s cult classics, Nu & Jo.Ke’s ‘Who Loves The Sun’.
‘I have been following the crypto monetization possibilities for music for some years now, believing that there are new ways for artists & labels to generate revenue. The infrastructure of these platforms has been properly developed over the past years and it looks like that there are finally now some user cases a the moment. Some artists like Deadmau5, Plastikman are launching tracks as tokens, Banksy art was burned and re-tokened again on a blockchain. I am always interested in new technological developments and try to find value for the music industry’, says Danny Faber himself.
‘At the moment the whole NFT story is quite in an early stage but it´s showing us how new value could be created for music and other arts in the future. This will not replace the current industry standards but could be an additional collector item if people see a true value in it. In this early stage, we are creating now a tokenized Bar 25 Music collectors series including 25 of our all-time best songs. For us, it´s more a try-out to see the experience of the whole process and interaction of fans. Still, it is quite technical to get a token. But if this will be a positive experience for us to create an NFT version of each of our upcoming releases’, he concludes.
