Lea Rose Besson, the Berlin techno DJ and producer known by their stage name Radical Softness, has tragically passed away at the age of 28. The news was announced on February 15th through an Instagram post by Znzl, co-founder of Demian Records and a close friend of the artist.
Radical Softness was a passionate advocate for the queer FLINTA community in Berlin, tirelessly promoting radical self-expression and the creation of safer spaces within the vibrant queer club scene. Besson was a resident DJ at Rawmantique in Berlin and TILT parties in Hamburg, gaining international recognition for their enigmatic sets that blended techno, trance, and fast-paced club rhythms.
Beyond their contributions to music, Besson co-founded CALYX, a popular queer femme night in Berlin that provided an inclusive haven for the diverse and vibrant queer community, emphasizing sexual freedom.
Znzl wrote, “We mourn the loss of a lover, a cherished friend, a soulmate, and a beautiful human being who taught us the power of resilience and love. Lea-Rose was an exceptionally gentle and sensitive soul. Their spirit will forever live on in our hearts and in every ripple of the ocean.”
