Bicep drops new single ‘Sundial’

It is the fourth and last single from his album ‘Isles’.

‘Sundial’ is the name of the new single by the British duo Bicep. The track will be part of their next album, which will be published through Ninja Tune in the next few days.

There is an interesting story behind this track according to its creators. Although Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar define it as ‘one of the simplest tracks on the album’, the song arose from a faulty recording on the Jupiter 6, when its trigger was malfunctioning and the arpeggiator randomly skipped notes.

The track contains samples of the song ‘Jab Andhera Hota Hai’, included in the 1973 Bollywood movie ‘Raja Rani’, recorded by Asha Bhosle & Bhupinder Singh and written by Anand Bakshi and R. D. Burman.

‘Indian music has always fascinated us. (…) In recent years, we have both become big fans of the soundtracks of Bollywood movies, in particular of the performances of soprano women’, they said regarding the sample.

‘Isles’ is due out on January 22nd and you can pre-order it here. Listen to ‘Sundial’ below.
