Bissett selects 10 influential tracks

Playing his trade in the Irish club scene since the tender age of 14, Bissett has DJ’d across the country and beyond, performing at Mass Festival, The Grand Social, SIN, and many more. On the production front, he has released a steady stream of dancefloor heat over the past few years, on labels such as Sinister Sounds, 13 Records and Let There Be House. More recently he was handpicked to become the training camp DJ of UFC icon and fellow Dubliner Conor McGregor. A star in the making, Bissett’s first release on the legendary Polydor marks the start of an exciting new chapter in the story of this Irish talent.

Celebrating the release of ‘Every Single Time’ on Polydor Recordings, Bisset now shares with us his 10 most influential tracks.

1. Dennis Ferrer – Hey Hey

“When I first started producing, this was the song that made me really think about vocals on a track. Hugely influential to how I write to the vocals now. Timeless song, still play it in my sets today”.

2. Curtis Gabriel – True

“Curtis is a huge inspiration when it comes to how he mixes a track. What he’s done with the vocals in this track, particularly with the pitching of the tone up and down, grabbed me in. It was the first time I really took notes on getting creative with the vocals”.

3. Curtis Gabriel – Always Right There

“Again, another example I look at as a point of reference when mixing my tracks. Curtis Gabriel has the golden touch for mixing flawlessly. It’s something I’ve worked really hard on after being inspired by him”.

4. Timmy Regisford – At The Club (Rocco Deep Remix)

“In the early days, I was at a boat party and this came on. I got the track ID there and then. Sometimes a song hits like that, particular moments in life, and it sticks with you. This is in my sets since that day”.

5. MK – Love Changes

“When I heard this the first time, the piano inspired me majorly. I’ve always looked up to MK, I feel he’s a great source of inspiration to me – especially with how long he’s maintained relevance. His music and presence are both timeless”.

6. Amine Edge – Lost

“I was in Ibiza, first time ever there, and I heard the slow vibe to this song with the Frank Ocean sample. If a song is played during a good memory, I’ve a knack of being attracted to it as a listener a lot easier”.

7. A/JUST/TED – A Brighter Light

“This tune is what got me into a heavier form of House. It’s influenced my production and what I do. Paying close attention to the drops here, I took it on board and sought similar styles but I feel A/JUST/TED has always done it well differently”.

8. Love Inc – Broken Bones

“I heard this song as a kid. It was one of the starting points of my career, listening to this as a kid. You can forget how much the music matters that you listen to as a kid when it comes to what you do later in life as an adult. This song is an example of the earliest possible influence”.

9. Armand Van Helden – My My My

“This got me into the “disco feel” of producing. It’s important to not stay in one field in what you produce and listen to. To be a good producer or songwriter, you need to be willing to explore”.

10. Room 5 – Make Luv

“Another disco song I really loved, one of the best of all times. Still bangs today. This is still an influence today, and kind of where I want to go next with my new music that will be out soon”.
