Drawn to the driving rhythms of trance in the era of Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, and Armin van Buuren, he cultivated a passion that evolved into a career dedicated not only to music but also to mentorship and inspiration.

With his new album ‘The Voice of Reason’ set to deliver 14 life lessons in the form of trance compositions, BiXX connects his artistry with a mission: to uplift, challenge, and help listeners grow.

In this conversation, BiXX opens up about his creative process, his philosophy, and what comes next.

EG: Hi BiXX, welcome to EG! You mentioned you had a great summer. What did that look like for you?

BiXX: Thanks for the invite. I have had a great summer. No pressure of doing gigs, so I have had plenty of time to take some relaxing trips and work on the promo content for my new album. I even had time to film 3 music videos to support the album. More on that later as the album releases progress.

EG: What has the reception been like for ‘Sense of Urgency’?

BiXX: The reception has been mixed. Many of my uplifting fans are asking, “What kind of track is this?” It is what I call tech lifting. When I created the outline for my new album, ‘The Voice of Reason’, I settled on 14 major inspirational messages to build tracks around. Having a sense of urgency is so important to turning goals and dreams into reality that the track demands a hard-driving bass line. The track has not been a huge hit, but it is very important in the context of the album and telling the story. It is one of those kinds of tracks that most people need to listen to and think about their own situation. Are they happy with where they are in life? Do they have a sense of urgency?

EG: What can fans expect from ‘Sense of Urgency’?

BiXX: What fans can expect is a powerful message to get off your A$$ and act now with a sense of urgency. There is a very cool melody playing while the sense of urgency message is spoken. This track idea came to me because one of my business mentors told me a long time ago that to be a truly great leader and for a management team to be great, for our company to be great, we needed to pursue our goals with a sense of urgency. It also came out of my frustrations of working with some creative people in the music industry. No sense of urgency. So this is a track with a fantastic message that I am afraid many who hear the track will have no idea it applies to them. It applies to all of us at times. Myself included. Without a sense of urgency today, you will have a sense of regret tomorrow.

EG: What can you tell us about the upcoming record, and how did you arrive at the title?

BiXX: The album is a collection of 14 inspirational messages, each one to help the listener improve their life. Listening to various types of trance music and even orchestral music, and by the way, there is a very powerful message in each track that will actually help the listener. These are 14 of my most important life lessons that I learned during my career. While it is important to learn from our own mistakes, it is even more important to learn from other people’s mistakes.

The album title came to me when talking with a friend and mentor about what mindset helped guide me to be successful in the business world. Being a voice of reason to other people to help them navigate through difficult times. Trying to be that person that my friends and employees can count on and trust. To provide a steady hand and consistent leadership based on strong values. My mentor suggested the title ‘The Voice of Reason’. For me, it opened up the creativity regarding the inspirational messages I wanted to deliver in the tracks on the album. It was like writing a book, knowing the title, making the chapters much easier to write.

EG: How long has this record been in the making? What was the process like, and how did collaborations happen?

BiXX: I have been working on this album for nearly 3 years. I had the first attempt finished in 18 months. I got a few rejections from labels. I needed that. The album was good, but not great. With the help of Arny at Black Hole, he suggested to Ram Boon with Nocturnal Knights Music that they release the album. Ram, being Ram, has great ideas, told me the album was not good enough, and gave me suggestions on how to improve it. I added 3 additional big vocal tracks plus ‘Karma’s Comin’ For Ya’. A huge message kind of track. From the new vocal tracks came 2 additional acoustic mixes to make a total of 3 on the album.

In total, there were about 20 tracks created for this album. I chose the 14 best, eliminating a few tracks, plus I added 3 acoustic mixes. The process was about figuring out which tracks were the best and best fit the concept. For over a year, I kept trying to improve the album, replacing tracks with better ones. I had to set a deadline; otherwise, I would never release it.

The collaborations were very deliberate. I had worked with Natalie Gioia and That Girl previously, so I knew their talents. Cari and Susana were recommended by Ram Boon as fantastic to work with. I also discovered Jessica Daugherty from Ireland through my BiXX Artist Spotlight segment on Trance.Vibez. Her sincerity and opera training inspired me to bring her into ‘To Find Myself’. I traveled to Derry to record her vocals with Liam Melly, and it was an incredible experience.

EG: You included three acoustic versions on this album. How did those come about?

BiXX: The original idea came from ‘Beauty Within’ with Natalie Gioia. That track was inspired by a conversation with my mother about internal beauty. The breakdown didn’t work in the dance version, so I promised Natalie an acoustic mix. With the help of Paul Skelton, we created a stunning version.

An album should be more than just dance tracks. It should be an emotional journey. The acoustic mixes were created with new music to amplify feelings—like turning up the emotion by a factor of ten. These versions also reach a wider audience beyond trance fans.

EG: What do you hope listeners take away from ‘The Voice of Reason’?

BiXX: The practical meaning of “the voice of reason” is guidance through calm, sensible, and logical advice during chaotic times. The takeaway is to inspire others to think. What lessons can I learn from each track to improve my life? To stop procrastinating and start doing. This is my gift to the world.

Through improving yourself, you can become a voice of reason to yourself and others. The best way to listen is alone, where you can freely feel and reflect. As I write, I’m looking at mountains and greenery. With nature’s beauty around you, the album can truly transform your mind.

EG: From your perspective, what challenges will artists face in the future?

BiXX: From financial to mental health, there are many. First, be authentic in your music. If you make music only for money, it becomes commerce. Second, build a support team that truly cares about you. The music world will beat you up. Success can make you a victim of your own success. Even Armin van Buuren has spoken about his struggles, but with a support network, he reinvented himself. I’ve built a strong inner circle to keep me aligned, and without them, I would have given up.

EG: What’s next for BiXX? Any milestones or live plans for ‘The Voice of Reason’?

BiXX: The answer is ‘The Best is Yet to Come.’ With experience, resources, and support, each chapter of life can be better than the last.

I’d love to create a ‘Voice of Reason’ set with visuals, but for now, there’s no tour planned. I enjoy working in my Alabama studio, focusing on creativity rather than fame. This fall, I’ll play five shows, including two at ADE, the Full Moon festival in Amsterdam, and dates in Santiago and Medellin.

Thank you for this opportunity to share my story. I hope my answers inspire others to work hard, be true to themselves, and become their own voice of reason.
