Icelandic artist Björk has unveiled snippets of her forthcoming concert film, ‘Cornucopia,’ during a Climate Week event in New York. The self-directed feature, captured during the Lisbon leg of Björk’s ‘Cornucopia’ world tour.

According to Deadline, the film is a collaborative effort between production companies Snowstorm, S101, Level Forward, and Foobar. While details remain under wraps, industry insiders anticipate more information to surface by year’s end.

In an exclusive statement to Deadline, Björk shared her vision for ‘Cornucopia,’ emphasizing the urgency of addressing climate change: “It is an emergency. In order to survive as a species, we need to define our utopia. The Paris climate accord is a modern utopia impossible to imagine, but overcoming our environmental challenges is the only way we can survive. We have to imagine something that doesn’t exist, carve intentionally into the future, and demand space for hope.”

Björk’s statement continues, painting a vivid picture of a world where nature and technology harmonize. She calls for a “matriarchal dome” and a musical representation of our ideal future. Her words evoke powerful imagery of renewal and transformation, drawing parallels to mythological tales of rebirth after disaster.

Björk’s environmental activism extends across diverse projects. In 2022, she narrated a mushroom documentary and released a “mushroom album,” ‘Fossora’. The following year, she joined forces with Rosalía on a track opposing Icelandic fish farming. These endeavors cement Björk’s status as a pioneer in music-driven environmental advocacy. The forthcoming release of ‘Cornucopia’ further exemplifies Björk’s inventive blend of art and environmental activism.
