Black Coffee honors Virgil Abloh with heartfelt mix

Featuring music by Jimi Jules, The Temper Trap, and many more.

Renowned fashion designer, architect, and DJ Virgil Abloh passed away at the age of 41 after a private two-year battle with cancer. Now, the iconic South African 2022 Grammy-nominated electronic music producer Black Coffee has shared his own ode to honor his late friend and collaborator with a new DJ mix titled ‘For My Dear Friend V’.

‘We didn’t do all we wanted to do, but you alone selflessly did enough to inspire generations and generations to come, even though you are physically gone, your passion, love, and light will shine through forever. I and many others will carry this spirit in everything we do’ said Black Coffee when presenting the mix on social platforms.

The compilation brings together 13 unique house and techno tracks from a variety of African artists, including the fascinating ‘Emazulwini’ by Sun-El Musician and Karyendasoul’s ‘The Warrior’s Prayer’. Amongst its highlights, ‘For My Dear Friend V’ also features a beautiful techno-driven rendition of The Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition’, as well as ‘Don’t Take It Personal’, one of Jimi Jules’ latest releases.
