Italo-Argentine DJ and multi-instrumentalist Bodai has shared the drop of her much-anticipated EP, ‘Calling My Name’. The new three-tracker is already available to stream and purchase across all major digital outlets via Bodai’s acclaimed AMITABHA imprint, signaling its 53rd release.
A long-awaited fan favorite, Bodai’s ‘Calling My Name’ is a most sultry, vocal-led take on electronic dance music, inspired by some of Gisele Bruno’s favorite cuts, such as Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’ or Satoshi Tomiie’s ‘Love In Traffic’. The EP is rounded off by ‘If You Don’t Find Me’, which boasts a granular warmth like no other, and ‘On My Mind’, which features Bodai’s lush vocals gliding graciously over a broken beat.
“I started writing ‘Calling My Name’ some 4 years ago…before the pandemic hit, I was singing in a covers band, and we played a few shows, so I had more of a “rocker” tone to it…it just flowed seamlessly. In fact, the vocal you hear on the finished track is the first take I ever did. I let it simmer down for a while, and I just found myself living in Italy some years later while checking out my older stuff… that’s when I found it, and I just told myself that this HAD to go out. The moment just felt right. And so I got working on the rest of the EP.” said Bodai in an exclusive conversation with EG.
