Burning Man Project has revealed the recipients of its 2026 Honoraria Art Grants, awarding US$1.3 million in funding to 75 projects from 15 countries. The installations will be presented at Black Rock City, Nevada, from August 30 through September 7th.

This year’s selection brings together a wide range of artistic approaches, from large-scale sculptures to interactive works. The curatorial focus centers on shared experience and connection, aligning with the 2026 theme, ‘Axis Mundi’. Concepts explored across the projects include natural systems, human structures, and collective rituals.

Highlights from the program include a flame-breathing garden gnome, handwoven Vietnamese basket boats, and a reclining sculpture reflecting on midlife transformation. The cohort includes both first-time participants and established artists, reinforcing the open and collaborative nature of the initiative.

“The Honoraria Program continues to support both ambitious large-scale works and more intimate, participatory pieces,” said Katie Hazard, Director of Art at Burning Man Project. “Together, they reflect the creativity and collaboration that define Black Rock City.”

The selected works will contribute to the evolving landscape of Black Rock City, which annually gathers over 70,000 participants in a temporary, community-driven setting.
