After a hugely successful ADE with several events, including the sold-out Selador Records party, Casa Productions welcomed back the legendary Danny Howells to kick off their first ‘Saturday Superstars’ monthly night at Club Roots in Amsterdam.
It was our first time in the club, which is the perfect size for an intimate party of around 300 people. We were pleased to see a great setup, including platforms to elevate you above the dance floor (very handy to have in Holland with so many tall people), a crisp sound system which is always key, and lighting that overall enhanced the vibe without being too distracting.
When it came to the music, the flow was on point from start to finish. Casa Productions’ very own Chris H got the night flowing nicely, followed by Paul Sparkes who turned up the energy a notch before the first special guest, Danny Howells, took over for his three-hour set. The journey he took us on proves he is still one of the finest DJs in the industry! These are the kinds of magical sets that keep you glued to the dance floor with your hands in the air, sweat rolling down your body, and your mind continually in awe of how the music alone can make you feel so much euphoria! It was a tough set to follow, but Lemon 8 did a fantastic job and kept the crowd going until the party ended at 5 am.
For the second edition of ‘Saturday Superstars’, Dave Seaman will be the special guest alongside Chris-H, T-Gray, and Pronx.
Dave Seaman should need little introduction as he is another legend in the scene for over 20 years. He plays alongside Danny Howells and Darren Emerson as a part of their 3-D collective, runs Selador Records with Steve Parry (one of the finest labels for progressive house music), and has had countless releases since the mid-90s, including the classic compilation series Renaissance and Global Underground.
Danny and Dave are in that top echelon of DJs who built their careers through their dedication to the music before social media took over. It was the era before Instagram and even Facebook, where clubs would promote their parties with flyers in the record shops. Now, over twenty years later, they continue to be constantly in demand because the quality of their sets is undeniably of the highest caliber.
If you’re in town for the holidays, then bring your Christmas cheer to the dance floor for what is sure to be another amazing musical journey! Tickets here.
