Keith Nunnally, the iconic voice behind JM Silk’s ‘Jack Your Body’, has passed away. The news was shared on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, by his longtime collaborator Steve “Silk” Hurley, who noted that Nunnally had faced “several health challenges” over the past year.

“Together, we formed one of the pioneering house music acts, blazing trails from the clubs to stages across the country and the world,” Hurley wrote in a tribute posted to Instagram.

Nunnally and Hurley began collaborating in the mid-1980s, debuting as JM Silk with ‘Shadow Of Your Love’. Their breakthrough came with ‘Jack Your Body’ in 1987, a sample-driven track that reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart despite neither artist having visited the country.

Keith had a voice that I don’t think anyone had heard before,” said DJ International founder Rocky Jones. “It was so strong and moving… it was his voice that led the world to house music.”

Though JM Silk never matched the global success of that hit, Nunnally remained active in the scene with solo tracks on labels like DJ International and RCA. His last release, ‘So Satisfied’, came in 2018 with remixes by Joe Smooth, DJ Pope, and others.

In 2024, Nunnally reunited with Hurley for his final performance at Chicago’s Pritzker Pavilion.
