Chronicles Diary has released ‘WAYF VOL1’, the first chapter in its new ‘When Are You From?’ compilation series. Out now, the release introduces the label’s identity through a concise selection of underground, dancefloor-oriented techno.
Rather than focusing on geography, ‘WAYF VOL1’ frames its concept around temporality and intent. Across four tracks, the compilation prioritises tension, texture, and forward momentum, outlining a sound designed for direct club function over excess.
Boyd Schidt and Uväll open the release with ‘Bullet Train’, a tightly wound 4/4 track driven by sharp hi-hats and a tunnelling bassline. Commissar Lag follows with ‘Battle Rites’, pushing intensity through percussive pressure and low-end weight. MMSS strips things back on ‘Aion_01’, delivering a hypnotic loop that blurs time while maintaining energy. Time Traveller (UK) closes the compilation with ‘Stud’, a driving and glitched cut that balances raw groove with space and restraint.
With ‘WAYF VOL1’, Chronicles Diary sets a clear direction for the series, presenting four distinct perspectives unified by a functional, underground techno approach.
