EG: Hi, DAARI! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?

DAARI: Hi! Thank you so much for your interest and for having me, guys! I’m good. I was born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine. I’m here right now.

EG: First of all, thank you for your contribution to our EG Spotlight mix series. Tell us, what can fans of the series expect to find on this one? Is there a concept running through the mix?

DAARI: Of course, in this mix, you will find my new release, including 4 new tracks called  ‘Anomano’, ‘Mantra’, ‘Lift Up Your Head’, ‘Acid’, and other selected tracks that I’m running out of!

EG: By the way, congratulations on the release of your latest EP, ‘Anomano’! You must be thrilled to finally share this one. What has the initial reception been like so far? Do you remember the first time you played these cuts live?

DAARI: Thank you so much! It was a really long journey to share this EP with the audience, and finally, I’m incredibly happy about the premiere! I remember when I first played the ‘Anomano’ track, and it was an unforgettable moment. The feeling was like goosebumps running over the entire surface of my body. I think the EP was well received.

EG: What can your fans expect to find on ‘Anomano’? Where does the name come from? Is there a concept interconnecting these four tracks together?

DAARI: ‘Anomano’ EP is a collection of 4 tracks that are connected by their dynamics. The name ‘Anomano’ doesn’t have a specific translation.

“I remember when I first played the ‘Anomano’ track, and it was an unforgettable moment”

EG: ‘Anomano’ is now available via Dear Deer. Why did you decide to work with them on this particular release? What was the process like?

DAARI: ‘Anomano’ EP is not the first release on the Dear Deer label. I really admire and respect labels that support the magnetic Ukrainian sound and bring it to the world stage. The process of signing the EP was in a very friendly and warm atmosphere, as the Dear Deer team always knows how to earn the trust of their artists.

EG: Stepping outside of the studio for a bit… How do you feel about the way social media has impacted the chances of an artist “making it”? Does it feel like we’re selling way more than just music by now?

DAARI: Social media plays a great part in any artist’s success nowadays. The way they spread information, make it public. You may be an unknown DJ from Ukraine today, but tomorrow you can be a star because somebody supports your release or performance at the right moment.

EG: The incorporation of AI in electronic music seems to be on the rise, whether it is in the music, the album covers, or beyond. Do you have a particular stance on this?

DAARI: Can we imagine a future where computers are capable of learning, reasoning, making decisions, and even creating music just like we humans did 10 years ago? Nowadays, this is becoming more and more realistic with artificial intelligence and is no longer an entirely new topic. As for me, we need to remember the creativity and originality within ourselves and our musical vision, as AI will never replace the process of inspiration.

EG: Finally, can you provide some insights into what’s next for DAARI? What’s in store for 2024? Where can your fans catch you next?

DAARI: I have a lot of big plans for 2024! Many releases are planned for the first part of the year. I am completely focused on creating new music and exploring myself through it! So stay tuned!

EG: Thank you so much for your time, DAARI! We wish you all the best for the future. Take care!

DAARI: Thank you! It’s been a real pleasure!
