Photographer Dave Swindells documents 1988’s acid house euphoria in new book

Focusing on the ‘Second Summer of Love’.

Photographer Dave Swindells has just shared his brand new 192-page book ‘Acid House As It Happened’, which centers around the rise of acid house music in the UK during 1988.

‘Acid House As It Happened’ compiles 223 photographs from 1998 and the iconic raves in depots, fields, and parking lots (including Shoom, Trip, Adrenalin, and more). Many of the images have never even been published before, or haven’t been seen for decades.

The book includes a foreword by music journalist and author Sheryl Garrett, who also wrote a book about acid house in 1999 called ‘Adventures In Wonderland’. This is the second book by Swindells published by IDEA, having already collaborated on 2020’s ‘Ibiza ‘89’.
