Declan McDermott releases his new EP ‘Why Don’t You Believe Me?’ via Delusions Of Grandeur, now available across digital and vinyl formats.

The record marks the return of the Sydney-born, Berlin-based artist, blending analogue hardware, live instrumentation, and vocal elements into a cohesive studio statement. Built around slow-paced house structures, the title track layers spoken and vocodered vocals over minimal drums and synth lines, resulting in a restrained, late-night composition.

On remix duties, I:Cube reworks ‘Why Don’t You Believe Me?’ with a focus on club functionality, introducing a driving bassline and filtered textures. DJ Nature offers a contrasting version, bringing a more stripped-back approach shaped by textured percussion and organ tones.

The EP closes with ‘Yara-Kimba (Lindeman Island)’, a piece inspired by the Ngaro Nation’s name for the island, incorporating atmospheric elements and a steady rhythmic flow. “This track is a tribute to Yara-Kimba, inspired by childhood memories, the island’s natural soundscape, and my vision of a distinctly Australian / Oceanic house sound,” says McDermott.
