Diplo has been fined €300,000 by the Sant Josep City Council for hosting an unlicensed rave at Ibiza’s Cala d’Hort viewpoint overlooking Es Vedrà, a protected natural area. The fine, confirmed by local outlet Dario de Ibiza, marks one of the highest penalties issued on the island for an illegal event.
The U.S. DJ held the party on June 24, 2024, drawing hundreds of attendees without a permit. The gathering took place in a European Union-designated Natural Area of Special Interest. Authorities launched an investigation shortly after, led by the local police and the Department of Activities.
In a statement, the council said it “strongly condemned” the event, describing the site as a “vulnerable area” where illegal activity poses risks of fire, waste, noise issues, and endangerment to attendees. Officials noted the rave violated multiple layers of environmental protection.
According to reports, Diplo used social media to direct fans to the remote location, sharing posts that encouraged turnout. Videos from the event showed crowds dancing near the cliffside as music played.
Diplo has not publicly commented on the ruling.
