EG: Hi, DJ Dris! Congrats on the release of ‘Keep Trying’! How have you been?
DJ Dris: Hi! Thank you. I’ve been good, keeping busy and enjoying the journey.
EG: Could you share your inspiration and idea behind ‘Keep Trying’?
DJ Dris: Well, it was really about creating a track that would be great in a club-like environment, with interesting sections that keep people dancing.
EG: Is there a theme and a message you want to convey to the listener through the lyrics?
DJ Dris: Yes, it’s for them to keep trying no matter what hardships they go through.
EG: What musical elements in ‘Keep Trying’ bring out your Afro House style this time?
DJ Dris: The congas and the snare pattern keep it within my trademark style and give it an Afro feel, but the overall sound is actually more Tribal this time.

EG: What about this track is different from your previous releases?
DJ Dris: I guess this is much more minimalist lyrically, that is probably the biggest difference. Most of my tracks are actually similar in sound to this one so far, with a couple of anomalies that contain more vocalism and lyricism.
EG: How do you go about ensuring that the vocals shine through at the right moments in this track?
DJ Dris: I ensure that when the vocal is introduced, there isn’t too much happening in terms of other midrange to high sounds. That way the vocals can really resonate in the other sections.
EG: Were there new beats or synth sounds introduced in this groovy track?
DJ Dris: Yes! I added some melodic stabs with sounds synonymous with House music to give it more of an energetic feel.
EG: Was your production process different this time around? If so, could you share them?
DJ Dris: My process remains very much the same. And I love how it works, as that’s what allows me to create and release so often, why change what isn’t broken?

EG: What is the one thing you want your fans to feel or get from hearing this track?
DJ Dris: I want them to stay moving forward in their own direction and pace. I want them to feel inspired and to feel that they aren’t alone in whatever they are going through.
EG: What more can we see from DJ Dris? Are any new projects on the horizon?
DJ Dris: Plenty more to come, I have a new release lined up every two weeks. And a couple of surprises in May. So, stay tuned.
