The renowned music label DJ International has been renewed thanks to the release of Frankie Knuckles’ new single, entitled ‘Carefree (I Am A Star)’, which is available from August 21st.
It is a happy and pleasant house with inspiring lyrics delivered by Knuckles himself, founder of the aforementioned label. This cut marks the first release of ‘JACKMASTER 7’, a never-released continuation of the six ‘JACKMASTER’ albums that DJ International released between 1987 and 1991.
The original song ‘Carefree (I Am A Star)’ comes with two remixes by Chicago DJ and producer DJ Chip E., and the current head of the label, Rocky Jones, who prepared a subtle and effective edit of the track.
Founded in 1985, DJ International is known for releasing music from a host of Chicago house pioneers, including Marshall Jefferson, Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk, Tyree Cooper, Larry ‘Mr Fingers’ Heard, Fast Eddie, Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley. , and many more.
