Waël Mechri-Yver, known artistically as WAÏ, is a multifaceted talent who has transitioned from a trailblazer in the entertainment industry to an international recording artist. His journey began nearly two decades ago, with a passion for community building and live performance that saw him create successful music ventures like BABËL, Gospël club & curate Silencio NYC. These platforms became known for their immersive experiences, combining music, art, and performance in unique venues.
In 2015, a silent meditation retreat inspired WAÏ to shift his focus from curating music to creating it. Over eight years, he honed his craft, developing a distinct sound that he now shares with the world through his debut EP, “Liberation,” set for release on June 21, 2024. This dance-floor-ready, two-track release includes “Sanctify,” featuring soulful vocals by , and “Faith,” an eight-minute ode to transformation.
“Music has always been my greatest passion and refuge,” says WAÏ. His EP, premiering via Stil Vor Talent/A Tribe Called Kotori, symbolizes both personal and artistic liberation. Collaborating with talented individuals like his Portuguese co-producer and Senegalese American singer-songwriter , WAÏ brings a fresh and dynamic energy to the international music scene, continuing to innovate and inspire.
