CLEIDO’s goal is simple yet profound: to create, select and play music that has meaning and sparks emotions—positive or negative—while paying homage to his origins and influences.
Since moving from South Africa to the UK in 2018 and spending most of his early years establishing himself and growing his community, his approach has always been meticulous, finding common threads between genres to create an emotive journey that moves dance floors across the world. Balancing artistic experimentation with accessibility, CLEIDO doesn’t consider his work to be particularly experimental; instead, he describes it as uncommon, yet universally connected through organic instruments and spiritual vocals/chants that speak to people’s innate emotions.
As Creative Director and A&R at Sondela Recordings, CLEIDO’s vision is to position Sondela as the leading Afro House label globally, with a roster of predominantly African artists. Since taking the reins, he has overseen a major rebranding effort that has elevated Sondela’s visual identity and grown its audience on social media platforms by 50%. The new branding strikes a balance—maintaining the African essence while appealing to a broader market.
