Carlos Gatto steps into the Speakerbox series on Electronic Groove with a set rooted in Progressive House and built on three decades of experience.
He began his career in the 1990s, touring clubs across Buenos Aires and throughout Argentina. Influenced early on by Depeche Mode, New Order, and The Shamen, he also took part in pioneering radio programs dedicated to dance culture during a formative era for the local scene.
In the 2000s, Gatto held residencies at BsAs News, Pacha, Opera Bay in Puerto Madero, and Terrazas del Este. He also performed at key electronic gatherings hosted at Voodoo Motel, Club Namunkura, Mute, Niceto Club, Belushi, and Kika, establishing a steady presence in Argentina’s club circuit.
Since 2010, his focus on production has brought international recognition. His originals and remixes have received support from Hernán Cattaneo, Kamilo Sanclemente, John Digweed, Nick Warren, and Danny Tenaglia. His catalog includes releases on Soundteller Records and AH Digital, among other respected imprints.
This Speakerbox mix highlights that journey. The tracklist moves through refined Progressive selections from GMJ and Matter, Ruben Karapetyan, Stereo Underground, and Michael A, while weaving in multiple unreleased collaborations and originals from Gatto himself. The inclusion of his own productions and remixes underscores both his studio identity and his role as a contributor to the genre’s ongoing dialogue.
Alongside his DJ work, Gatto developed a live format that allows him to perform synthesizers alongside bands and musicians. He also teaches production and DJ courses at Arjaus Academy, sharing his experience with a new generation.
Speakerbox continues to serve as an independent platform within the Electronic Groove collective series, giving labels and others a dedicated space to present their artists with full creative control. Carlos Gatto’s debut stands as a clear statement of his sound and his place within the Progressive movement.
