Techno family: Electric Rescue on legacy, community, and Astropolis Records

Electric Rescue has spent more than 30 years shaping French techno through a mix of activism, production, and community-driven work. Known for a discography that spans Cocoon, Affin, Arts, F Communications, and Sleaze Records, he has built a reputation for a sound anchored in conviction rather than compromise.

His tracks have been supported by Laurent Garnier, Len Faki, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Sven Väth, and Slam, while his DJ and live sets have taken him to respected clubs and festivals worldwide. As founder of Skryptöm Records, he has also championed new artists and upheld the culture and values he considers central to techno.

His connection with Astropolis, rooted in the 1990s, has grown into a genuine artistic family. It now comes into focus through the label’s ‘10 ans révolus’ compilation, out December 5, 2025, built around collaborations and exclusive material. Electric Rescue appears alongside Scan X on ‘Lost In Time’, joining contributions from Rone, Mézigue & Swooh, KiNK, Belaria & Madben, Oniris & Benjamin Rippert, Legowelt & Cuften, Zaatar & Trunkline, Manu Le Malin & Kmyle, and Célélé & Théo Muller.

In this conversation, Electric Rescue opens up about the compilation, his history with Astropolis, and what comes next for him.

EG: Hi, Antoine! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been doing?

Electric Rescue: Hello, I’m fine, thank you. Happy with the release and meeting you here.

EG: First of all, congratulations on your participation in Astropolis Records’ ‘10 ans révolus’ VA compilation. What has the initial reception been like so far?

Electric Rescue: I’m really happy. I’ve been working with the Astropolis festival team for two decades, and I was a fan before that since the 90s. It’s a unique French organisation I’ve supported from the beginning. When they invited me to join the roster for the festival and the booking agency, it was an evidence for me. Then, when they founded the label and invited me to release music, it was intense.

EG: How were you approached to get involved in this compilation, and what does it mean to you to be a part of this 10-year anniversary celebration?

Electric Rescue: It was logical to participate and contribute to this project, as I’ve released on the label since the beginning as Electric Rescue but also as W.LV.S with my bro Manu Le Malin. Logical, but a huge pleasure at the same time. They also proposed I work with another bro, Scan X, a long-time friend. It wasn’t the first time we collaborated, and I really love his music when he is in his blue mood techno.

EG: And how did you approach your contribution to the VA? What would be an apt representation of the Astropolis sound?

Electric RescueAstropolis comes to the artist to let them be who they are. They don’t ask artists to fit a certain shape. They build the label’s identity like a puzzle with all these individual voices. That global mix creates a big patchwork that gives Astropolis Records its soul.

“It’s my techno family for life”

EG: What’s a personal favorite of yours from the compilation and why?

Electric Rescue: Even if I have a favorite, I won’t tell you, because Astropolis is a great family with a lovely and fun spirit and everybody is together here. People today love to pick favorites or compare artists, and it creates tension. Astropolis has a culture of difference and everybody is important. All the colors are important, so all the tracks are important. This is the Astropolis spirit. The best thing to do is to listen to all the tracks and have a good time.

EG: Now, strolling down memory lane… you have a longstanding association with Astropolis Records and the festival. Do you remember your first interactions with the brand? How did your relationship with Astropolis come to be?

Electric Rescue: I discovered Astropolis in the mid-90s. They were doing their second or third festival, I can’t remember, at the castle of KERIOLET, mythic in France for the huge parties organised by Astropolis. I found that day the best way to organise a big festival. All the ingredients were there: the venue, the decoration, the artists, the ambience, everything with a special feeling of freedom and respect. It convinced me for life and gave me the template to organise my own events too, even if I started before them in Paris. So you can imagine my joy when they asked me to enter the family, because yes, it’s a real family.

Al the ingredients were here to spend the best rave we can, best venue, best decoration, best artists, best ambience, everything was here with a special feeling of freedom and respect. That convince me for life and they gave me the template to organise my own event too, even if I started before them in Paris but they were the template to organise event after that meeting. So you can imagine my joy when they asked me to enter the family, because yes it’s a real family.

EG: What is the importance of brands like Astropolis in your eyes?

Electric Rescue: After what I told you before, do you think I need to add more words? It’s my techno family for life.

EG: By the way, you have been selected to partake in Astropolis Records’ upcoming tour dates. Where are you playing, and what can people expect from your performance?

Electric Rescue: I already participated in a first one in Brittany, and as usual the ambience there is crazy. It’s the best French public, really demonstrative, showing their love for this music and the Astropolis family. I have other dates coming in Brest with the whole family, and I’m very impatient.

“Astropolis comes to the artist to let them be who they are. They don’t ask artists to fit a certain shape”

EG: What’s next for Electric Rescue? What milestones are you looking forward to now? Where can your fans catch you next?

Electric Rescue: My next gigs are Copenhagen, Nancy, Amsterdam, Paris, and La Coruña in Spain. For my next releases, I have music planned on Renegade Methods in December and then releases on South Signature, Symbolism, Planet X, Skryptöm, and an album in September on a famous label from a very famous guy. I’m impatient for all of that, but at the moment the most exciting project is the Astropolis 10 years.

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Antoine! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!
