Electronic music is the fastest-growing genre in the United States during the first half of 2026, according to Luminate’s latest midyear report.
Dance music outpaced every other genre in growth, while R&B and hip-hop remained the country’s largest streaming category, accounting for one in four online plays. John Summit and Disco Lines were among the artists associated with the increase.
The report also identified renewed interest in electronic releases from 2015 to 2017, reflecting broader growth in nostalgia-driven listening and catalog discovery.
On-demand audio consumption rose by 4.8% compared with the same period last year. Spanish-language music represented almost one in 10 US streams, while UK artists increased their market share to 7.8%.
Physical sales also grew. Vinyl sales increased by 2.4%, while CD purchases rose by 16%, reaching 16.3 million units between January and June.
The findings follow reports that the global electronic music industry reached a record valuation of $15.1 billion.
