Seventeen years after its original release, Empire of the Sun revisit their iconic single with ‘Walking On A Dream (Reimagined)’, a 7-track EP featuring remixes, collaborations, and reinterpretations. Out now via EMI AUS / Capitol Records, the release breathes new life into the song that helped define the duo’s legacy.
Among the highlights is ‘Walking On A Dream (Resurrection)’, a long-awaited mashup fusing Empire of the Sun’s original vocals with Michael Calfan’s ‘Resurrection (Axwell Recut)’. Previously a festival-only favorite, the track gained widespread recognition after Axwell debuted it at Ultra and Tomorrowland.
The EP also includes new versions by BLOND:ISH, TEED, and Marlon Hoffstadt, who brings a trance-tinged, 90s-inspired rework. Kaskade’s remix makes a return, along with Wiz Khalifa’s ‘The Thrill’, which samples the original and has earned RIAA Platinum certification.
Released in 2008, ‘Walking On A Dream’ became a hit with its synth-pop style and theatrical visuals. The song reached #10 on the ARIA Charts and later entered the Billboard Hot 100 after appearing in a Honda commercial. Recently ranked #24 in triple j’s Hottest 100 Australian Songs of All Time, it has amassed over 2 billion streams globally.
Empire of the Sun are currently on a headline tour in support of their latest album ‘Ask That God’, with stops across the U.S. and Mexico, including festival appearances at CRSSD and Austin City Limits. Grab your tickets here.
