London’s nightlife legacy enters the museum world as fabric’s iconic sign becomes a permanent exhibit. The renowned electronic music venue’s emblem will be displayed in the new London Museum, opening in 2026.

This significant acquisition comes as part of the venue’s broader initiative to collect signs from various establishments across the capital, following a public call-out last year. The fabric sign, which adorned the club’s exterior in 2019 to commemorate its 20th anniversary, will now find its new home just a stone’s throw away from its original location.

The sign will be featured in ‘Hanging Out’, a permanent installation dedicated to showcasing the diverse meeting spots that have played crucial roles in bringing the British capital communities together. From music venues and theatres to restaurants, nail salons, and barbershops, the exhibit aims to capture the essence of London’s social fabric.

Beatrice Behlen, Senior Curator at London Museum, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, “We’re excited to welcome London Museum as our soon-to-be neighbors in Smithfield. As we gear up to celebrate our 25th anniversary later this year, it’s great to see the club recognized for the community we have built and the vital role we play in London – as both a cultural space and tireless champions of electronic music as an art-form. We’re looking forward to our continuing venture with London Museum and to formally taking up our residency when the new site opens in 2026.”

This innovative preservation approach showcases the London Museum’s dedication to connecting Londoners with their history through diverse partnerships. The inclusion of fabric’s sign in the 2026 opening highlights nightlife’s lasting cultural impact on the city.
