Fatboy Slim and The Rolling Stones have officially released ‘Satisfaction Skank’, out now via Southern Fried Records and ABKCO Records. The track brings together two major moments in UK music and marks the first sanctioned release of a mashup that has featured in Fatboy Slim’s sets for more than 20 years.
Originally sparked during a 1999 show in New York, Norman Cook fused ‘The Rockafeller Skank’ with the Stones’ 1965 anthem ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’. For this release, Norman was granted access to the original stems, which were delivered in an armored van due to their rarity. He rebuilt the mashup from scratch, retaining the essence of the original recording while transforming it into a modern club tempo.
Fatboy Slim commented, “Over countless years, I have always dreamed of an official release for this mash-up. It has been a favourite in my DJ sets for over a quarter of a century.”
Two official videos accompany the launch. One by Tom Furse reimagining the Stones’ 1965 world using archival photography and AI, and another by Elliot Gonzo dropping Fatboy Slim into a surreal club setting inspired by the Big Beat Boutique era.
