Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea is stepping into the solo spotlight with ‘Honora’, his first full-length album under his own name. The jazz-rooted project lands on March 27th,  through Nonesuch Records.

‘Honora’ finds Flea returning to his earliest musical roots as a trumpet player. Composed and arranged entirely by him, the 10-track album features Flea on both bass and trumpet, with contributions from Josh Johnson, Jeff Parker, Anna Butterss, Deantoni Parks, Thom Yorke, Nick Cave, Mauro Refosco, and Nate Walcott. The record also includes the previously released ‘A Plea’.

The album’s announcement arrives with new single ‘Traffic Lights’, co-written by Flea, Thom Yorke, and Josh Johnson. It comes accompanied by an animated video created by Nespy5euro. Speaking about the track, Flea said: “Something about it reminded me of ‘Atoms for Peace’, so I sent it to Thom,” adding that the Radiohead frontman is “just the warmest, free flowing, jamming motherfucker.”

Named after a beloved family member, ‘Honora’ follows Flea’s 2012 solo EP ‘Helen Burns’. Beyond his work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the artist has also published a memoir, appeared in major films, and launched his own podcast, This Little Light.

To support the release, Flea will tour across North America and Europe this spring. Kicking off on May 7 in Chicago, the brief run will include stops in the United States, Canada, Germany, England, France, and the Netherlands, wrapping up in Paris on May 28.
