Floating Points has announced the release of ‘Mere Mortals’, a new album arriving August 28th, 2026, via Deutsche Grammophon.

The project was originally commissioned by the San Francisco Ballet and premiered in January 2024 at San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House. The performance featured Floating Points on synthesizers alongside the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, with choreography by Aszure Barton, reimagining the story of Pandora through a contemporary ballet production.

Alongside the announcement, the British artist has shared ‘Her Gift’, the second single taken from the album. Describing the composition as “a duet written for harp and Therevox ET 4.3, a dance between Epimetheus and Pandora,” the track follows lead single ‘Falling to Earth’, which was released last month.

‘Mere Mortals’ marks another orchestral chapter for Floating Points following his acclaimed 2021 collaboration ‘Promises’ with the London Symphony Orchestra and the late Pharoah Sanders.

The work will receive its European premiere at the 2026 Edinburgh International Festival from August 28th through 30th, where Floating Points will perform alongside the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. The production will then move to London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre for performances running from September 9th through 12th.
