DJ and producer Francis Mercier has unveiled an official remix of the classic track ‘Bongo Bong’ by Manu Chao.
Released in 1998, Manu Chao’s ‘Bongo Bong’ has retained its status as a generational favorite. In this official remix, Francis Mercier maintains the iconic vocals and spirit of the original while infusing it with a house groove. This marks the first official remix of Chao’s work approved for co-release with another artist.
“Remixing ‘Bongo Bong’ has been an incredible journey. It’s an honor to receive approval from Manu Chao for this remix,” commented Francis Mercier.
The concept of this remix took shape three years ago when Mercier, inspired by his personal admiration for ‘Bongo Bong,’ embarked on reimagining the track. Following a meticulous creative process, he presented the demo to his label. This remix’s significance was elevated when Chao granted official approval, solidifying its status as an officially endorsed production.
