Gorillaz share new single ‘Baby Queen’

Inspired by a stage-diving Thai princess.

Animated band Gorillaz have just shared their latest single, ‘Baby Queen’. The new drop is a part of their upcoming studio LP, ‘Cracker Island’, and is also included in the new FIFA ‘23 soundtrack.

According to Damon Albarn, ‘Baby Queen’ was inspired by a 1997 Blur concert, in which a Thai princess decided to stagedive from her throne at the tune of ‘Song 2’. “The reason I’ve written a song about it is because I had a dream about this princess very recently; she’d grown up and we spent time in my dream together, her as a woman,” said Albarn.

‘Baby Queen’ is the third in a string of releases anticipating the new album, following singles ‘Cracker Island’ (featuring Thundercat), and ‘New Gold’ (with Tame Impala & Bootie Brown).
