Frankfurt-based DJ and producer Gregor Tresher returns after an eight-year hiatus with his new album, ‘False Gods’. Set for release on November 29, 2024, via [PIAS] Électronique, this sixteen-track opus showcases the artist’s musical vision and collaborative spirit.
The album boasts collaborations with electronic music icons such as Sven Väth, Josh Wink, and Anja Schneider. Tresher has unveiled a preview track, ‘Le Meilleur Est à Venir’ (‘The Best Is Yet to Come’), featuring Laurent Garnier.
‘False Gods’ signals a significant shift in Tresher’s creative process. Known for his solo productions, he has now embraced collaboration, resulting in a rich, diverse soundscape.
Largely created during a creative burst in 2023–2024, ‘False Gods’ encapsulates Tresher’s musical evolution. The collaborative process, initially challenging for the typically solo artist, became rewarding—especially following his work on Sven Väth’s 2022 ‘Catharsis’ album.
The LP promises a journey through various textures and moods, from nostalgic echoes of synthpop to the sweet spot between house and techno. Notable tracks include ‘Ursa Minor’, a collaboration with Petar Dundov, and ‘Homesick’, featuring Anja Schneider—capturing the universal sentiment of DJs longing for home amidst endless nights.
Visual artist Tobias Rehberger has created the cover art, ingeniously playing with the titles’ initial letters to complement the album’s creative energy.
