Guti has teamed up with Armenian jazz artist Sarkis Ricci to launch Modal Tune, a collaborative project that merges the musical traditions of Argentina and Armenia through this jazz fusion project. The just-released EP ‘Guti presents Modal Tune’ is now available via El Nuevo Sonido Latino imprint.
“Modal Tune is one part me and one part Armenian once-in-a-generation talent, Sarkis Ricci,“ says Guti. “It is incredible to work with a guy so talented, and the mix of his jazz understanding and my abstraction makes for very good records. Also, it is super fun to perform live. I have no rules as Guti, but Modal Tune is more than that. I try to make music that lasts forever. I am the composer and producer, and we are so connected in the studio we don’t even talk. We both trust ourselves to the songs.”
Guti, a celebrated figure in electronic music, blends house and techno while pushing genre limits. He crafts a distinctive sound with dancefloor energy and delicate textures. His label, El Nuevo Sonido Latino, promotes broader experimentation, with Modal Tune as a flagship project.
