Hermetics debuts with ‘Vertigo of Eternity’, an album merging experimental electronics with spiritual themes, which is now available via Otherness Records.

Inspired by a transformative ayahuasca ceremony in Colombia in 2018, Hermetics’ Santiago Niño crafted the album’s core theme. As he explains: “In the most intense moment of the journey, after the near-complete dissolution of my ego and my identity, I encountered an overwhelming, radiant, and dizzying spiral that defies description. The freedom, beauty, and terror were so intense that in that moment, I found solace in being a limited human, in a body, on this planet.”

Drawing inspiration from philosopher Bernardo Kastrup’s work, the album’s title ‘Vertigo of Eternity’ captures the Colombian producer’s exploration of consciousness and freedom.

The LP opens with ‘Avalon (ft. Yoyoyo)’, blending distorted bass with celestial atmospheres. The title track follows, featuring complex rhythms and delivering a stark message: “While many claim to seek freedom, very few truly desire it or could endure its weight.”

‘Gratitude’ combines tribal percussion with intricate sound design and American Beauty samples. Through diverse sonic landscapes, ‘Vertigo of Eternity’ creates a cohesive exploration of freedom, consciousness, and transformation.

Madrid artist Primatus Rex’s surrealist visuals complement the music with cinematic artwork that enriches the album’s immersive experience.
