Rising star Ben Sterling has already garnered huge support from label co-founder Jamie Jones. Moving into 2019, the talented youngster makes his debut on Hot Creations, delivering three punchy, high-octane tracks this February.
We caught up with Ben Sterling as he just released ‘The Energy’ EP on Hot Creations.
EG: Hi Ben, thanks for chatting with us. Going back in time, where do you come from and what are your early memories related to electronic music?
Ben Sterling: Hello all! When I was young I remember seeing the music video of ‘Music Sounds Better With You’ come on TV. It was a video of a kid flying his homemade aeroplane and I remember staring at the screen mesmerized by the music. Having being brought up from my father’s electro 80’s and my mum’s Balearic Ibiza & trance, I knew it was meant to be.
EG: You just released ‘The Energy’ EP on Hot Creations. What does this achievement mean to you?
Ben Sterling: Very big achievement because I look up to the vision of Jamie and Lee from the music and art that they put out at the parties they throw. It is an honor to work with Hot Creations and I will continue to work with them in the future!
EG: How did you link with Jamie Jones’ label?
Ben Sterling: It was a crazy story! My assumption is that it was because of the previous release on Josh Butler’s -‘Anonymous’ EP. Jamie had his radar on his music so he might have come across the Various Artist Compilation on Origins with my track ‘Ciao’. This opened the doors and also sending messages to Lee Foss for his Repopulate Mars label. After that, I had a crazy amount of support, right up to the present day from both Jamie and Lee.
EG: Any special meaning about ‘The Energy’ title?
Ben Sterling: ‘The Energy’ title came from the amazing year I had at DC10’s Paradise being welcomed by the family. I chose to remember it by the visual art created by Marie Juffroy. This gave me inspiration to get back to the studio and create some more music.
