Brute name, versatile sound: Over 100 releases in 5 years have enabled BUTCH to express this
versatility and brute-fully force his way to becoming a shaping artist in the worldwide landscape of
electronic music.
We caught up with Butch to talk about his recent Tuvaband’s ‘Trees’ remix package done for the infamous Crosstown Rebels.
Electronic Groove: Hello Butch! Where are you right now and what are you up to?
Butch: Hiya! I’m on a plane from Munich to Berlin and looking forward to playing at Kater Holzig later.
EG: You have a new remix package coming out on Crosstown Rebels. On the release you present two different versions of Tuvaband’s track ‘Trees’. How this idea came into reality?
Butch: I was chilling at a friend’s place when his Spotify playlist put on the track ‘Trees’. My ears pricked up and I immediately had an idea what I’d like to do with the song. So I got into my studio, made an edit and then reached out Tuvaband. I think she digs it because she sent me the files, which I liked working with, creating an additional remix.
EG: On the press release you mentioned that you “hope this electronic version will make the record accessible to a whole new crowd”. Can you explain more about your comment?
Butch: I think many people are often a little of narrow-minded in their musical tastes without even knowing it. Tuvaband is a great artist, but I don’t think many people know about her. I like the idea of people who enjoy my music getting to know artists like her and broadening their musical horizons.
“We need to laugh, not to take everything so seriously”
EG: Now the summer is over can you mention a few highlights worth mentioning?
Butch: I loved the summer and had many great experiences, but the most exciting to me was starting to build my own studio in my garden. Really psyched about that and can’t wait for it to be finished.
EG: We have seen different episodes of your Butch TV series. What’s the concept behind them?
Butch: Butch TV is about having fun and making the day a little better for my followers. I enjoy taking a breather from my studio work and just connecting with the people who dig my humor and music. If I can make people laugh and connect, that is a win for me.
EG: Are you working on new releases? Can you give a sneak peek to our audience?
Butch: I’ve got a ton of music coming out. Ricardo and I did separate remixes for Mandar String Theory, I’ve got an EP on Watergate, a new Rebirth EP and loads more I can’t remember off the top of my head. Just stay tuned, it’ll be good!
EG: You regularly use your sense of humor on your social media networks. What would be the world without comedy?
Butch: Comedy is one of the best things in the world because it is a tool that works in many situations and sometimes even across cultures and language barriers. Humor can make fun moments more fun, but it can also help in dark times. We need to laugh, not to take everything so seriously.

EG: A few artists have mentioned that one of the perks of touring is having the possibility to experience worldwide gastronomy. What is your favorite place to enjoy a nice meal?
Butch: There’s great stuff to be found everywhere, but seriously, I still enjoy eating a home-cooked meal with my family most.
EG: What are your plans for Christmas and NYE?
Butch: I’ll be spending Christmas with my family, but New Year’s Eve I’m in Berlin, baby! Catch me if you can!
