The ideas and concepts of physical and spiritual reanimation come in many forms. For Catz ‘n Dogz, ‘Reincarnation’ comes in the form of a late-night 3 am banger.

A hypnotic, marching sojourn into a dusky unknown future set to the trembling, surging, jazzy horn weaves and a high voltage bassline that rises and rises until the life bar is back to 100%%.
A candid and alluring snapshot of where the Pets boss men are at right now as they commence their 20-year anniversary of working together, ‘Reincarnation’ is less of a new page and more of a new book.
EG caught up with Catz ‘n Dogz to learn more about their upcoming performance for Get Lost, the release of their new ‘Reincarnation’ EP on Pets, future projects, and more.
EG: Hi guys! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you based right now?
Catz ‘n Dogz: Thank you for having us! I’m based in Poland, and Voitek is based in Spain. Anyway, we see each other every weekend or even more often than that (laughter).
EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your new ‘Reincarnation’ EP! What has the initial reception/promo been like?
Catz ‘n Dogz: Thank you so much. This is a very special release for us. The trumpet was recorded by our hometown artist Dawid, from the local philharmonic. We met together when we were doing a big live show last year in Poland. That was a big project with live musicians, dancers, singers, and visuals. This song was one of the highlights of the show. The reception is great for both tracks and they are both very different from each other.
EG: What can your fans expect to find on ‘Reincarnation’? Is there an emotional trigger or concept to these?
Catz ‘n Dogz: We love to play and produce different genres. This inspires us a lot and it gives us a feeling of freedom. This EP is a Catz ’n Dogz club/festival-style EP. The ‘Reincarnation’ track is definitely a track we would play at a good open-air festival. It’s hypnotizing and takes you on a journey. ‘Shine’ is a club track we like to play. It’s very groovy, it connects techno elements with house music. We had this idea for the name when we stayed for 1 week in Goa last year.
EG: By the way, you guys are set to perform at Crosstown Rebels’ Get Lost! You must be very excited. What can we expect from your performance? How do you approach this kind of set?
Catz ‘n Dogz: Get Lost parties are always special and for sure our set is going to be special too. It will be definitely a club side of Catz ’n Dogz. More hypnotic, and groovy, connecting house and techno.
“We love to play and produce different genres. This inspires us a lot and it gives us a feeling of freedom. This EP is a Catz ’n Dogz club/festival-style EP”
EG: You actually have a long-standing relationship with Crosstown Rebels, which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary. How did you first come across the collective? What space do you believe it occupies in today’s musical landscape?
Catz ‘n Dogz: Yes we do, we’ve known Damian Lazarus for a long time. When we were doing the 3 Channels project, I think that was in 2004. We sent a cd with our demo to him. He sent us an email back saying that he wanted to sign our record. That was our second vinyl on one of our fav record labels.
We deejay together many times in London and all over the world. Damian’s style is unique and he likes similar elements in music that we do. Crosstown Rebels is always connecting the best in house and techno.
EG: Speaking about anniversaries, you’re on your 20th anniversary as Catz ‘n Dogz, congratulations! In retrospect, did you ever think you’d be together for 20 years as a duo? What has been key in this relationship?
Catz ‘n Dogz: The key to survival is to not care so much about the small things and understanding that not everything is always equal. That’s very important, especially in a group. We are really good friends, we know each other very well. Luckily, we have similar music tastes and similar inspirations. That’s the best thing in the world, to be able to travel together and inspire each other for such a long time.
EG: How do you feel about the role of social media in the music industry? Is it drawing us too far away from the actual music? How can we make our interactions with social media serve us better?
Catz ‘n Dogz: On the one hand, it’s helping to show other people what you are doing and people can have a more fluid contact with you, and on the other, it’s a big distraction. You just need to find your way here. If it’s too much just, block it out for some time. We are 2 people, so we help each other here, and also run our socials ourselves. I think the key here is a good balance. We always try to sneak as much music as possible and what is interesting to us and maybe inspire others.
EG: How do you keep entertained when not in the studio? Have you checked out any good movies, series, books, or albums you’d recommend?
Catz ‘n Dogz: Lots of gym, definitely books and series. It’s hard for us to stay long at home, even for holidays, Traveling is very addictive, that and parties. This is what inspires us the most later in the studio.
“The key to survival is to not care so much about the small things and understanding that not everything is always equal. That’s very important, especially in a group”
EG: Can you tell us something about you that very few people know about?
Catz ‘n Dogz: Who is the cat and who is the dog? And the answer is…
EG: What’s next for Catz ‘n Dogz? What particular milestones are you looking forwards to this 2023? Where can your fans catch you next?
Catz ‘n Dogz: We signed a new Crosstown Rebels EP that is going to be out this summer. Also working on a new EP for Glitterbox. And a big project for our 20 years, with great remixes and a VA with our best remixes and tracks. We definitely going to be a lot in the US this year.
EG: Thank you so much for your time, guys! We wish you all the best for the future.
Catz ‘n Dogz: Thank you and see you soon!
