GHEIST: “The idea was to create an EP that allows us to show a greater picture of GHEIST”

One of the most dynamic live acts in electronic music today, the musical creativity and artistic vision that embodies GHEIST is quite remarkable.

Following the global success of their opening two singles on Embassy One in 2022 – ‘Losing Game’ and ‘Only’ – the inexhaustible German trio now continues its prolific run of form on the Berlin-based imprint, inaugurating the New Year in emphatic fashion with the release of its latest musical project, ‘Gravity’ EP.

Featuring three gripping and diverse originals that entertain some of their finest iterations of melodic techno and vocal electronica to date, the ‘Gravity’ EP marks another extraordinary showcase in cutting-edge electronic music from GHEIST, whose career has been filled with countless standout releases on leading labels including Embassy One, Diynamic, Last Night On Earth, Stil Vor Talent and their very own RADAU imprint, to name a few.

EG caught up with GHEIST to learn more about the drop of their ‘Gravity’ EP, their current world tour, their RADAU imprint, and much more.

EG: Hi guys! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you based right now?

GHEIST: Thank you very much for having us. We are Berlin-based, but we are currently on tour, so this comes straight out of a hotel room in Brazil 😉

EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your ‘Gravity’ EP! What has the initial reception been like?

GHEIST: We are very happy about the feedback we’ve been given so far. Thank you for asking.

EG: So, ‘Gravity’ is your first full-length EP in over a year. You must be very excited to share this one. Is there a concept or thread running through these tracks?

GHEIST: The initial idea was to create an EP that allows us to show a greater picture of GHEIST or, better, to show the different styles we feel drawn to. As we see ourselves as a band, our approach generally is more eclectic than anything else. The glue between each and every song of ours is a feeling, an attitude, a certain playfulness, an emotion that happens when the three of us go into a room and make music.

We love that we can show our audience a bigger picture of GHEIST with ‘Gravity’ as an EP, which makes it a very special one to us.

EG: What can your fans expect to find on ‘Gravity’, music-wise?

GHEIST: Our ‘Gravity’ EP outlines the different vibes and styles we are currently creating with GHEIST. While ‘You Need To Understand’ touches the electronica side of what we are doing, ‘Gravity’ itself is entirely built for the dance floor. And in between those two tracks stands ‘River’, which connects very much to the values and sound of GHEIST as such, with deep and melancholic harmonies, thick synth layers, a breakbeat, and vocals that appear strong but somehow very fragile.

EG: You’re also on your biggest world tour to date. What has changed for GHEIST since your last tour?

GHEIST: We feel absolutely blessed by the way we are being received by our audience and also by everyone else involved in the process of making a tour like this possible. This being said, we have always had a fantastic time touring so far; it’s just happening on a bigger scale right now. We’ve been working on this for quite a while, and as things like this don’t come overnight, it still simply feels like going with the flow, and we are grateful for every moment of it.

EG: By the way, how’s your RADAU imprint doing? What can we expect from RADAU this year?

GHEIST: When we started the label, RADAU became home to our musical output and allowed us to do whatever and whenever we wanted, and this is still the case. After some time and working on our releases quite successfully, we decided that this year is a good time to slowly open up the label to other artists. So everyone should and can send us their music.
A few years ago, when we started with GHEIST, our sound was a little different than what was ‘famous’ at that time, so many labels were too scared to release our music, but we believed if the song was unique and special, we want to be the platform with Radau to support that.

EG: What’s next for GHEIST? What particular milestones are you looking forwards to this 2023? Where can your fans catch you next?

GHEIST: Like always, we keep making music to share with you. This year we have something very special we are working on and looking forward to as we prepare a full live show.

You can be sure that 2023 holds some surprises in store for you that we are happy to give to you along the way.

Our next shows will be:

17.02 Chicago – USA
18.02 New York – USA
23.02 Guadalajara – Mexico
24.02 San Diego – USA
25.02 Los Angeles – USA

and many more….

EG: Thank you so much for your time, guys! We wish you all the best for the future.

GHEIST: Thank you very much for having us. It was a pleasure. We hope to see many of you at one of our upcoming shows so we can meet, have a moment together, and maybe have some tequila. In any way, we wish nothing but the best for this year; stay healthy and happy, and always be kind to your loved ones 🙂
