Luciano’s dazzling take on deep, melodic house, has been taking audiences on remarkable journeys, rocking some of the most renowned stages around, including his much-anticipated debut at NYC’s Nebula.

The sprawling 11,000 square foot, multi-level club at 135 W. 41st Street is Manhattan’s biggest nightlife opening in years, unveiling a world-class nightclub and event space in the heart of Times Square, marking a major milestone in New York nightlife’s post-pandemic recovery. No expense or detail was spared in the creation of this space, which has a capacity for 700, and a state-of-the-art sound system. Nebula has an incredible 5,500 square foot dance floor, 2,500 square feet mezzanine level, and 3,000 square foot lower level with three private club rooms dedicated to private groups, complete with their own dedicated bathrooms.

EG caught up with Luciano Scalioni to learn more about his trip to NYC’s Nebula, his year, thoughts on the deep house scene, future endeavors, and more.

EG: Hi Luciano! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us today. Where are you based right now? How have you been?

Luciano Scalioni: Hi! My pleasure as well! I’m based in Los Angeles. Holding down our deep house culture over here! Doing great, always!

EG: So, we’re almost down the halfway mark for this year. What has yours been like so far?

Luciano Scalioni: Very active. I’m boarding the entertainment business not only from the music side but also on the production side. Besides performing once or twice a week, I’ve been on a busy 6-night-a-week schedule for a while, following music everywhere.

EG: And now you’re set to play at Nebula NYC. Is this your first performance there? What can your fans expect? Any surprises in store?

Luciano Scalioni: That’s right! It’s my first time in the venue and I’ve only heard great things! I have to confess, I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about being somewhere. It’s also my first time in NY. I’m set to crush it. I had this set in mind for a while and have been curating it with what the house music community is all about, new and unreleased music. Expect high-energy, euphoric techno sounds, which is what I’m primarily about. I’ve been lucky to be in touch with other excellent music producers that perform worldwide, like Highlite or Goomgum. Them, among others, are sending me some of their secret weapons for some extra fun.

EG: How would you describe your sound by now? What artists do you see yourself reflected in?

Luciano Scalioni: It would be safe to categorize it as Melodic Techno. But I enjoy venturing out to other subgenres when there’s enough time in a set. Artists that inspire my music are Solomun, Adriatique, Vintage Culture, Goomgum, Highlite, Glowal, Dixon, Ame, Cassian, Brigado Crew, and several others.

“It came from true passion. From the very bottom of the techno underground scene in Los Angeles, I was performing in after-hours events in downtown LA”

EG: Summer is here! What are your plans for the season? Where can your fans catch you next?

Luciano Scalioni: This is my last week in the US for July. Will be around Europe for the rest of the month and part of August, and then back in LA for my weekly there! I’m always announcing the shows on my personal social media!

EG: Let’s go back a bit…How did you first get started in the electronic music scene? Was there a record or show that pushed you down the rabbit hole?

Luciano Scalioni: It came from true passion. From the very bottom of the techno underground scene in Los Angeles, I was performing in after-hours events in downtown LA. A lot of warehouses in the beginning. Climbed up to some more recognized events in Hollywood, and grew along with the deep house genre that 5 years ago, was not big / recognized at all by the majority.

EG: You’ve already released ‘Living For The Game’ this year. Can we expect any new tracks soon? Anything you can anticipate on that front?

Luciano Scalioni: Yes, expect new music by the end of this summer! There’s a secret joy in holding unreleased songs when it comes to deep house, I’ve noticed. I’ve been enjoying playing my upcoming tracks to crowds without them knowing. Also excited to announce some collaborations with international artists! Soon 🙂

EG: These past few years gave us all a chance to slow down and reassess. What would you like to see more and less of in our scene?

Luciano Scalioni: I’ve noticed our house music community growing uncontrollably everywhere. I’m happy to see it and excited about how everything is turning out. Our artists perform our kind of music on bigger stages by the day! This is what I love to see and what I want to keep experiencing!

EG: What else can we expect from Luciano Scalioni in the next few months? What new milestones are you looking forward to?

Luciano Scalioni: Events I’m always looking forward to are: Halloween week in Los Angeles, as we always have great shows there, Art Basel in Miami for December, and New Year in Brazil! All shows will be announced to the public soon!

EG: Thank you for your time, Luciano! We wish you all the best!

Luciano Scalioni: Thank you too! Excited for NY!
