Sean Doron: “Scenarios is growing faster than we expected”

Hailing from Tel Aviv, Sean Doron is one of the biggest names in the Israeli electronic music scene and has been for the last ten years.

Earlier this year, he teamed up with French artist MAGA to form Scenarios – a brand new record label and artist collective together with fellow crew members Yulia Niko, Emanuel Satie, and Tim Engelhardt.

With an impressive triad of critically acclaimed releases since launching back in April (‘Here To Stay’, ‘Starlight’, and ‘Disconnect’), the burgeoning underground house imprint now looks to continue its enviable run of first-rate studio output as it unveils its fourth official offering with ‘Looking In The Sky’.  The new cut marks the first single on the label to feature all five constituent members of the Scenarios collective who team up with Berlin-based vocalist Paul Brenning for one of the biggest records on the label to date.

EG sat down with Sean Doron to learn more about Scenarios, the release of ‘Looking In The Sky’, and much more.

Check our recent IG takeover with Scenarios here.

EG: Hi Sean! Welcome back to EG. It’s always a pleasure to have you here with us. Where are you based right now?

Sean Doron: Thanks for having me guys, I’m based in Tel Aviv, Israel – my hometown.

EG: So, what has your summer been like? Any particular highlights?

Sean Doron: Wow, it was a hectic summer! I was lucky enough to play my music in many different cities around the world, like Paris, Ibiza, Lisbon, Casablanca, Mexico City, San Jose, São Paulo, New York, Los Angeles, and many more. A personal highlight for me was Burning Man! I have always dreamed to be able to perform there and playing for Mayan Warrior was a big moment for me.

EG: Congratulations on the forthcoming release of your new single with the Scenarios collective, ‘Looking In The Sky’! What has the initial reception been like so far?

Sean Doron: Thanks! We have solid promo feedback from major artists and various crowds around the world have enjoyed it on the dancefloor.

EG: ‘Looking In The Sky’ sees you guys linking up with Berlin-based vocalist Paul Brenning. What was the experience of working with him like? Did you guys have a previous relationship?

Sean Doron: Paul is a really talented singer, Yulia is a friend of his and she sent us this beautiful vocal by him. Together, we all worked on this track in Lisbon.

“The feedback from the crowd and artists around the world has been extremely positive”

EG: And what can your fans expect to find on ‘Looking In The Sky’? Is there a concept powering this particular piece?

Sean Doron: The concept is really in the designing of the track since we all have collectively worked on this piece at our studio in Lisbon.

EG: This is the first release that sees all five members of Scenarios teaming up. How did you guys go about in the studio for this one? Is it hard to make progress when there are five opinions on the table?

Sean Doron: When the group is producing a track, there is one person handling a piece that they feel most comfortable working with. We then switch the person in the chair to work on the next segment / we sit and discuss it and either move forward with the next segment or continue to edit until we reach a collective agreement.

EG: Speaking about Scenarios…How’s the label doing? Is there anything you can anticipate on that front?

Sean Doron: So far, it is growing faster than we expected, the feedback from the crowd and artists around the world has been extremely positive. Much more music and showcases coming your way soon.

EG: What are your thoughts on the current state of the scene? What would you like to see more and less of?

Sean Doron: I feel the scene itself is growing around the world, I would love to see more talent and creativity and cultural inclusion. Also, I would like to see less plastic and more eco-friendly movements in the industry.

“I feel the scene itself is growing around the world, I would love to see more talent and creativity and cultural inclusion”

EG: What is art and why do we need it?

Sean Doron: To me, art is something that someone expresses in their own way to reach another person and make them feel an emotion.

EG: What’s next for Sean Doron and Scenarios? What particular milestones are you looking forwards to now? Where can your fans catch you next?

Sean Doron: Apart from this release, we have much more music on the way through scenarios. More to be announced, on the personal side. My next shows will take place in Lisbon, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Tulum, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, and more.

EG: Thank you so much for your time, Sean! We wish you all the best for the future.

Sean Doron: Thank you so much, it was a pleasure.
