Sydney Blu: “I’m really excited for the 10 year anniversary of the Blu Party series”

Sydney Blu’s career can be considered a journey of evolvement. With tremendous passion for live performance, music production, and all-around artistic creativity, Sydney’s constant determination shines brightly through her accomplished Dj career. With beginnings in Toronto Canada and then 6 years in the United States touring the continent and the globe, all the way to her present life in Berlin Germany, Sydney’s dedication to live her life through her music is unbridled.

Currently blazing through 2019’s packed studio and tour schedule, Sydney Blu continues to build a name for herself through Blu Music, the Blu Party, DJ performances, and chart-topping productions.

We caught up with Sydney Blu to talk about her latest musical projects and current situation.

Electronic Groove: Hi Sydney and welcome back to EG. Tell us, where are you right now and what have you been up to this past week?

Sydney Blu: I just got back from a long tour from summer and into fall, and then a non-stop Amsterdam Dance Event. Now currently taking some needed time off.

Electronic Groove: You recently moved to Berlin. What are your thoughts on the city?

Sydney Blu: I love it. It’s a very musically eclectic city and it’s also some of the best I’ve heard in my life. The locals are great and people from all over the world also live in Berlin.

Electronic Groove: Are there any other cities in the world, that you would consider moving to, for your career?

Sydney Blu: Berlin! I just did. I will probably be here for a while. London also is probably a great place to live for music. I would also consider there.

Electronic Groove: Has the relocation played a role in your music? Does your environment play a role in your productions? Summer/Winter?

Sydney Blu: Yes it’s definitely played a role being here in Berlin. The places I go dancing influence what I play and it’s really fun! During the winter I definitely find my music gets a bit darker, but for the most part, my sound has gone in a much deeper direction.

Electronic Groove: Talking about productions. Are you working on any new material? Do you have any new releases for the winter season?

Sydney Blu: Yes! I have a new release on Kevin Saunderson’s KMS Records coming out on December 16th and it was included in the Electronic Groove mix, as an exclusive first listen! I also have another 5 or 6 releases set to come out in 2020. A couple were also included in this, but not named. I’m excited for you guys to hear some exclusive new stuff.

Electronic Groove: The 10 year anniversary of your Blu Party series is coming up in March of 2020. How has the brand evolved throughout the years, and how do you decide on which acts to book?

Sydney Blu: It has evolved based on me. The brand always reflects what I am doing at the moment, and I’m really excited about the 10 year anniversary! We’re working on some big stuff for that celebration, and it will be the biggest Blu Party we’ve ever done. Stay tuned! 🙂

Electronic Groove: What’s your vision for the Blu Party in the future?

Sydney Blu: To continue to grow and export it over to Europe. It seems like the natural progression since I’m over here now.

EG: Are you planning something special for The Blu Party’s 10th anniversary?

Sydney Blu: Yes! Big! But nothing can be revealed just yet!

EG: You recently finished your ‘Back from Berlin’ North American Tour. How many cities did you visit? How was the experience? Are there any shows which stood out the most to you?

Sydney Blu: I did about 15 cities on that tour. It was nuts, but also amazing! The shows that stood out the most to me were St Petersburg, Hawaii, and Vancouver. Each show had its own unique vibe, and it was an amazing way to end the summer.

EG: Music connection is a huge part of someone’s experience on the dance floor. How do you try to be sure that you’re connecting with your audience when you’re performing?

Sydney Blu: I always look into their eyes. It’s the best way to know if you are connecting with them.

EG: Many thanks and we wish you nothing but the best!

Sydney Blu: Thanks… I hope you like the mix!
