Matt Fax & Dezza: “It feels great to find back a real audience, interact with them and make them happy”
The renowned compilation series 'Colorscapes' returns for its third volume, once again featuring three stellar…
We had the chance with Whitesquare as he just released a new EP, ‘We Are Friends PT 1’ on Integrity Records.
Electronic Groove: Hi Whitesquare, thanks for chatting with us. You just released your new production on Integrity Records. The EP is entitled ‘We Are Friends’ alongside Kocleo. What’s the concept of the series?
Whitesquare: Thanks for inviting me. The concept of the series is to bring together two artists on the label’s roster who are friends, have a mutual admiration for each other’s work but have never previously collaborated on a track before. The label wanted to showcase a more meaningful process, like how authentic results can be established when music is forged out of friendship rather than just a byproduct of necessity.
EG: What was the inspiration to produce ‘Poise’?
Whitesquare: Nothing in particular really as inspiration, I kind of wanted to make a track for my sets that would sound strong on the dancefloor but still keep a house vibe.
EG: How did you felt working with Kocleo on ‘WSKC’?
Whitesquare: Working with Gianni better known as Kocleo is always fun, we worked on many projects together before. He’s one of my besties and we know each other for about 10 years now. Also, he is one of the few people I always ask for advice on the technical side of production.
EG: How was the production process? Did you work in the same studio or separately?
Whitesquare: We started together at his studio and then switched to mine and then finished it separately.
EG: Do you feel it was challenging for you? Are you up to repeat the experience?
Whitesquare: It was really fun to work together on this and I’m sure this won’t be the last time of us collaborating on an EP.
EG: How’s your summer agenda looking like? Any particular gig you are especially looking forward?
Whitesquare: Summer is super fun this year, got some gigs in Europe and repeat Asia tour… which is one of my favorite places to tour.
EG: You also run your own label Lyase Recordings. What’s planned for the coming months?
Whitesquare: I and Nima are preparing some fresh stuff from some amazing artists we found but I can’t get more specific on details yet!
EG: You come from Italy. What clubs are the ones you recommend to visit in Italy?
Whitesquare: I would definitely recommend Tropical Animals night in Florence, its a party held every thursday going on for 8 years already with a super cool crowd and always a step ahead regarding the artists they book.
