Australian composer Jamie Stevens has released his new single ‘Dust’, featuring Brooke Singer of French for Rabbits, via Music To Die For Records. The track is taken from his forthcoming debut solo album, ‘Beginner’s Guide To Floating’, which drops on August 22nd, 2025.
‘Dust’ showcases Stevens’ emotive, shoegaze-inspired approach to electronic production, combining dreamy arpeggios, textured synths, and Singer’s ethereal vocals. “I was aiming for a widescreen, immersive feel; something with a vastness or ‘epicness’,” Stevens explained. “It was a conscious nod to Shoegaze and that sense of being enveloped sonically. The idea of being a speck of dust fits perfectly, almost an allusion to existentialism.”
Before the full single lands, Hernan Cattaneo and Mercurio deliver a remix of ‘Dust’ as a Beatport exclusive on August 8th. Cattaneo, who has long championed Stevens’ work, invited him to perform live at his Cordoba shows last year in front of 15,000 people. Their connection translates into a rework that stays faithful to the original while adding Cattaneo’s own dancefloor flow.
As a founding member of Infusion, one of Australia’s top electronic groups, Stevens creates emotionally-driven productions. His ARIA Award-winning work and extensive solo catalog have established him as a respected figure in electronic music.
Speaking about his upcoming album, Stevens shared: “I’d always wanted to make a solo album separately from Infusion, but until now, I was never quite sure what direction to take. As a solo artist, I’m known for club-ready singles and remixes. I was very conscious of not wanting to make a strictly club-connected album. There are richer themes, textures, and ideas to explore and the album format was the best place to do that.”
